Palin Quits as Alaska GovernorAlaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday that she is stepping down at the end of the month, setting up a potential run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.FOXNews.com Friday, July 03, 2009 Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin shocked the political word Friday by announcing that she will step down at the end of the month and transfer power to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell. Palin made the announcement from her home in Wasilla, flanked by her husband, Todd, and family and state commissioners. "I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path," Palin said after the announcement, according to a press release from her office. "Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional 'Lame Duck' status in this particular climate would just be another dose of 'politics as usual,' something I campaigned against and will always oppose." The announcement came on the same week that one of her top public health officials says she was forced out of office because Palin felt she wasn't in step on social issues. Palin's decision now allows her to avoid the difficult task of running for president while serving as governor. Todd Palin told FOX News that his wife will concentrate on "doing the things for Alaska and the country" that she is passionate about and can not do as governor with the limitation and constant opposition she deals with within the state. Palin, who defeated incumbent Gov. Murkowski in a primary in 2006,.gained national prominence when GOP presidential candidate John McCain picked her as his running mate last year. But her approval ratings in the state have skidded in recent months. Palin has been dogged in recent months by ethics inquiries. Her office last month announced the 15th dismissal of an ethics complaint against her or one of her staff. On Wednesday, Beverly Wooley, who has worked more than 20 years in public health in Alaska, most of it with the municipality of Anchorage, ended her stint as state public health director. She's the second top health official to leave within days. The state's chief medical officer, Jay Butler, left in late June after declining to take on Wooley's job along with his own. He now is in Atlanta, overseeing a U.S. Centers for Disease Control task force on a vaccine to protect against the H1N1 flu virus. FOX News' Chad Pergram and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

This is going to be interesting to say the least.

The left wing boards are going nuts as well a most of the media. Never heard such hate since she was a candidate. They are scared to death of the woman. She
could go home and go fishing and they would still not let up. Maybe Obama will figure he needs to start blaming everything on her instead of Bush.

that british guy on Fox was trying soooooo desperately to put words in Palin's spokeswoman's mouth, about how sarah was cutting and running and she
couldn't stand the heat blah-blah-blah.
If she is going to run for prez, I think it was a good move, it's always irked me, that a gov would be campaigning for the last 2 years of their term and not taken care of the business they were elected to. Same with the prez, that's why, I think the prez should have a 6 year term, period! |

I think she will run for Senate. Not the presidency. However, I agree her family is very important and especially her special needs son. There has been too
much picking on her family. She could only stand so much. No, I do not believe she will run for President, but Senate.

Mary Ann, I was thinking the same thing, she really needs to establish credentials before she runs for prez, otherwise the media will always make her life
miserable.

A Senate seat from Alaska will be coming up for election in 2010. Hmmmmm?? PLUS I think this gives a really bad taste in the mouths of Alaskans for how the
Republicans and Democrats in the state legislature treated her. I think there will be some people losing their offices in the Alaskan state legislature over
this.
The guy that was filling in for Sean Hannity on the radio today made me sick. He kept mentioning that Andrea Mitchell had it from "sources close to Palin" that she was getting out of politics completely. Now think about that. WHAT person close to Palin would even talk to Mitchell with her liberal bias? Plus if they did talk to her they probably fed her a bone that was a lie just to drive the liberal media crazy. One guy even called the show and told the guy this very thing and the idiot still quoted Mitchell. I would quote Obama before I ever quoted Andrea Mitchell or anyone outside of FOX News anchors. I bet Sean wishes he hadnt taken the day off. LOL The liberals are so damn afraid of her. They wont be able to keep throwing ethics charges at her with her no longer the Governor. Someone said she has $500,000 in attorneys fees for fighting those charges. I think we need to take up a collection and pay it all off for her. Send the libs a loud message that we stand by her and against them. |

I think this also knocked the Michael Jackson 24/7 coverage off. He is still dead from the last I heard which was several days old because that is when I quit
watching or listening.

Andrea Mitchell? She's married to Alan Greenspan and she works for NBC! That's enough to disqualify her for my tv.
And, you're right, michael jackson is STILL DEAD! |

She made a statement that someone said some bad things about Trig, her special needs son. Was that Letterman? I have a close friend who has two special needs
children and I know how tough it is to raise them. I can totally understand her wish to get off the stage for awhile. And I respect that in her.

I heard that too but I am not sure who it was. I dont think it was Letterman or we would have heard about that. It must have been someone up in Alaska. I know
she has been getting it from the Democrats AND the Republicans in the state legislature. Is there any wonder good people dont want anything to do with
politics?

She also mentioned the personal legal fees from the numerous lawsuits the dems have been harassing her with are becoming a burden too. From my understanding
there has been 15 such suits and all of them have been tossed. You still need legal help with them though. Lyndon LaRouche's people used the same tactics.
I do not think she is getting out of politics, and I think she has an eye on the White House too. Just my two cents there.

The guy who wrote the piece is the retard. That is truly disgusting.
One of the comments on the comments section on my local tv station was that, she probably resigned because of a sex scandal because the SC governor said he had crossed the line with other women, so this numb brain assumes it's Sarah! lol With a husband as gorgeous as hers, why would she even think about any other man. Then they went on to state as a fact, that the baby is not her husband's.
Hell yes I answered the jerk, don't know if my answer got posted or not, haven't been there yet this morning. |

wasn't very PC of him to use the word "retard" now was it?
If a conservative had written that article, they would have been tarred and feathered, but if a liberal does it, it's comedy.
