I have been looking for a place in the country for some time. Got to get out of the city.

The .45-70 is the Alasken Co-Pilot made by Jim West of Wild West Guns up in Alaska. A friend up there hooked me up with Jim when he first started making them. I sent him a new Marlin 1895 and the Leupold scope and he did the work plus added a hard chrome finish. He is selling them now for around $2,300.00 for one set up like mine.

Jeff Cooper had some very nice things to say about the rifle and I know of a couple of big game guides in Africa that are using them to back up their clients. With the short barrel it swings very fast and the forward mounted pistol scope allows for an instant sight picture. The porting makes the recoil on such a short barrel managable. Plus the 405 grain bullet I like to shoot in it is a real attention getter.
