Uh... wasn't there an ICE AGE at some point during that time? The northern ice sheet spread as far down as New York, Minnesota and Montana?
How's this for "proof" of global warming? Several billion years ago, the entire planet was covered in one giant ice sheet. According to that, the current climate is way, way too hot!!
