I agree Bill. They have football and basketball programs going in th eright direction much like the University of Louisville has. For some reason the alumni of UK are putting up with mediocrity from the basketball and football coaches and from the athletic director as well. Before we had visionairies like Rupp and Bear Bryant and Rick Pitino. Now we have coaches who are just happy to have winning seasons even if they dont go anywhere in the national standings. They are happy if UK even cracks the top 25.

People in Kentucky are not happy with the way things are going. Of course if one complains about Tubbyball and the coach some actually accuse that person of being a racist. My brother was talking to the owner of a shop across the street and just made a comment about how he wasnt happy with the way Tubby coaches and the guy (white guy at that) asked him if he was a racist. To his face he asked him. PC out of control. You cant criticize his coaching style without being thought a racist.

The sad thing is we had a young black coach who was interested in taking the football coaching job but the university settled for worn out Rich Brooks. He has some success at Oregon but his time has passed. We could have used that black coach because he would have brought some intensity to the program and attracted some outstanding athletes to play for UK.

Tubby won a national championship using the leftover players from the Rick Pitino teams. After that we havent done much. It really is time for a change. I cant remember any time Tubby Smith has ever been thrown out of a game. He is too timid and his ball-line defense and control offense is boring and everyone knows how he coaches. Great players just do not want to play for him. And the fans of UK want run and gun. At the start of the season he said they were going to play that style. It hasnt happened yet and the season is rapidly approaching an end.
