I think every team in the league pretty much falls under this category. Schilling is, and has been, on of the top 5 pitchers over the last 10 years or so. He is great during the regular season and he steps it up during the playoffs. That is a mark of a great pitcher.

Another thing to consider in St. Louis is that the Cardinal pitchers are pretty good hitters, especially Woody Williams, who has hit several homeruns in his career. When he was with the Padres he was used as a pinch hitter on occasion. Other than Schilling, who has NL playing experience, the other Sox pitchers are pretty much fodder up at the plate. That will work in the Cards favor. Even if the Cards pitchers don't get base hits, NL pitchers, for the most part are adept at sacrifice bunting, and with NL rules that is a very crucial part of the game. AL pitchers are nowhere near as skilled with sacrificing runners over.

"America's abundance was created not by public sacrifices to "the common good," but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes. They did not starve the people to pay for America's industrialization. They gave the people better jobs, higher wages adn cheaper goods with every new machine they invented, with every scientific discovery or technological advance -- and thus the whole country was moving forward and profiting, not suffering, every step of the way."
