Unfortunately sh*t like Weiner will just find a different cess pool to thrive in. He may or may not have destroyed his political career, that will be determined by the voters, but you can be sure that self-serving and narcissistic as he is, Weiner didn't resign without knowing ahead of time that he had another lily-pad to land on..........

And while I'm at it, I'm getting damn tired of hearing public figures saying "....and I take full responsibility for my actions."  It's as if this public mea culpa absolves them from their transgressions and everything is better now.  Well it isn't better, it's only more private.  The ramifications of their wrong doings inevitably causes pain and distress with their family, friends, and associates, as well as public alarm and concern.  IMHO all public officials, be they emergency responders, politicians, educators, broadcasters, etc. should be held to a higher standard and code of conduct, and be made to suffer more stringent retribution for their misdeeds.  If someone holding the trust, power, persuasion, and adulation that goes with public service violates his (or her) oath of office, then they deserve harsher consequences than those applied to a private citizen perpetrating the same sort misdeed.

I'll get off my soapbox now....................

“At the core of modern liberalism is the spoiled child–miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.” - P.J. O’Rourke
