That is a good point, John.

In this case, I do think that lack of knowledge of the scientific method, and the definitions of "theory" and "hypothesis" as defined in science, is part of the problem, so that ignorance does come to play, also. Where I think that intelligence fits in is that they should do some basic research on the subject rather than make such blatantly incorrect assumptions. Any intelligent person would do that.

But, then, again, that could also be the common sense thing to do! However, one must have intelligence to understand it, even on a basic level.
