OK, Milt. I'll bite the bait. Who are you related to (in other words, what do they do for NASA)?

I have many friends who work for NASA and their contractors. And I attend many professional meetings with even more NASA people. I have a lot of respect for their savvy.

I once almost took a job with Lockheed out at White Sands, a subcontractor to NASA out there. Every once in awhile I regret not taking it. I would have enjoyed working with the NASA folks.

The government is the government, though. When it came time for me to change jobs in 1990, one of my applications went to Goddard. I have always had (as you can tell from my posts) a strong interest in the thermodynamics of the atmosphere, which is rather fascinating to me, and, of course, quite a difficult monster to tackle. I have tried to keep up with the scientific literature even that far back. I didn't hear from Goddard. but I had offers from virtually every other outfit that I applied to. I was down here for almost A YEAR, and, lo and behold, I got a letter from Goddard (this was 1990 - no widespread email) in which they expressed their interest and asked if I could come in for an interview.

Another road not chosen, I guess. Just think. If I went to Goddard and quite this job, I might have been Hansen's right hand man!

Perstare et praestare. Per aspera ad astra.
