Absolutely, Q and Wolf. And that is why any disintegration of the UK, as symbolised by the Union flag, would be such a disappointment and in fact disrespect to those who died for it.

I wouldn't expect the flags of those countries that have some element of the union flag included to need revising should Scotland leave the UK, because such inclusion represents their ties in the past to the UK, which remains unchanged what ever happens to the current UK. Actually, it's given me an idea for a flag should Scotland go, and that would be to have the current union flag in a corner (representing the past), and something in the main part to represent England, Wales and Northern Ireland, just like many Commonwealth countries do.
