Back when I first retired I volunteered to become a member of the Guardian ad Litem group for the 19th Judicial Circuit in Florida. I finished all the training and was assigned my first case. It took less than two weeks before I came into conflict with the Dept for families and children. Those people are damned crazy. I had a kid who was being brutalized by his parents via neglect and I found myself in conflict with this damned weirdo who thought children and their parents should be kept together at all costs.

I found myself before the judge arguing the points in this case and opposing me were the freaks of the DFC. The judge ruled in favor of their argument. I said to the judge, "if you can't see that I am concerned for the absolute physical safety of this child and that it trumps any psychological benefits he may have by staying with drug infested parents then you can take this job and stick it. I will not be a part of any system that does such things to children." The judge sat there afraid to say a damn thing to me. I walked out and I have no clue what ever happened to that little boy although I am willing to bet he is not alive today.

I have talked the talk and I HAVE WALKED THE WALK.
That isn't the way it works, when cps goes in, they interview the parents and appraise the situation, if they feel the kids are in danger, they take the kids, put them in a foster home for their safety, then the court process starts.
I have very little respect for these CPS types. I found the majority of them professional job preservers. The welfare of the kids was secondary.
