The reforms require future state employees to work longer before being eligible for retirement. To retire with full benefits, the sum of an employee's age and years of employment would have to total 87.
Interesting: This means a 60 year old with 27 years of service could retire. That means he would have had to start working at the age of 33. If he started at the age of 23 and put in 32 years of service he would be 55. Age 55 +32 years of service equals 87. Not a bad program still as most teachers could qualify for full retirement around 55 years of age or a year or two more.
