thanks John, I really didn't know that, shows how much attention I paid in school.
As for a depression, imo, it might be the best thing to happen for this country, sounds weird I know, but, think about it.
Americans will actually have to count their pennies and have to save for things instead of using credit cards @ 26% interest, we'll have to tighten our belts and figure out how to make extra money, we will quit relying on convenience foods, they'll be too expensive. Little girls might actually start spending time in the kitchen with their mothers and actually learn how to cook from scratch.
Fathers will actually build things with their sons instead of buying them 4-wheelers, remember the soap box derbys?
The family will eat together at dinner, because they won't be able to afford cable tv.
We will become more self-reliant and band together to make this country the great place it used to be.
No one ever died from tightening their belts.
When I hear all the stories from the old timers in this town about how they used to live and only went to market a couple of times a year, how they grew their own veggies and canned them, raised their own meat, smoked the meat, stored the meat without refrigeration, I really envy them the experience.
I know that a majority of people live in the city and can't do any of that, but for people like me out in the boonies, it's not going to be a big deal.
City people may end up in the country, who knows?
It won't kill us, that I'm sure of, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger
