We are going to hell in a hand basket; made in China, the jobs we joked about getting when our real jobs got to rough are now taken over by people who can't even say good morning properly. Property values have plummeted because someone in their infinite wisdom thought it only right that they move people into gated communities that came with livestock a fully stocked bar and speakers that would rival the towns emergency alert horn. We watch our demise on big screen TV's made in Taiwan; we don't know what is in our bill of rights but can tell you who won the Super Bowl. We can't afford to pay our own mortgage but we can someone else's, we drive our Subaru's because we can't afford to drive the congress mandated overly priced American cars anymore. But we are Americans.
We are a people living in a country, built by Americans, but not for Americans, we are a people without a country. We are a people who have forgotten what we are made of because we have allowed our parts to be made in some other country. We have given what was ours by birth to those who would have it, out of some sort of guilt for having it. This is not the America it once was because the great Americans have all died off and we have allowed second class people to control us, but hey, we are Americans. Does anyone even know what that means any more? We say we are Americans but if some big wig politician comes on that big screen TV and says we are upsetting some other country by admitting it well we quickly shut up don't we… This is not the America I grew up in; it is not the Americans I grew up with.
Let me tell you about the Americans I grew up with, a hard working people who could never afford the luxuries that some others had but managed to keep a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs. All of that while raising five kids on one income, with lay offs and shut downs, yeah that's right we are not the first ones to go through that, imagine that. My Daddy God rest his soul, was laid off at the plant and do you know what he did? He rode a bicycle to Houston, that would be a two hour drive by car now days if you sped and if you didn't hit traffic and he worked shut downs, he sent a check home each week to my Mother so she could pay the bills and when he was called back to the plant he rode that same bicycle all the way back to Lufkin. That my friends is a real American, the never say die attitude, the I will work even if it means scrubbing someone's floor. Those are the people who built this country, the ones whose sweat and blood still stain the fabric of our country, they did not know the meaning of giving up, they would never of dreamed of taking unemployment unless it was a last resort.
We do not have the intestinal fortitude those people had, we need the big O to get us out of this mess, well I am sorry every time I see that big O I think of a big fat zero. And let's be honest by the time he gets through helping us that will be what we have left. We want someone else to protest, we want someone else to get us a job, we want someone else to tell us what to do and then we would rather they do it for us. We have grown lazy and spoiled, if we don't make what we made before, it isn't good enough, if we don't have as good a job, it isn't good enough, We won't buy American it isn't good enough, but we darn sure complain when all those American jobs go away. We need a really good kick in the butt from our ancestors', you know the ones who fought for this country and built this country so we could sit on our butts the minute things got a little tough and say I give up let someone else fix it. This is our country, our problem and we are the ones who need to fix it since we are Americans.
