Yesterday our maid changed the beds and forgot to put my bar of soap back beneath the bottom sheet. During the night I awoke with a terrible cramp in my left leg. I panicked because that is the same leg where I have the blood clot. I quickly learned that it was not the clot but the missing soap. I got out of bed and worked out the cramp and began feeling for the soap. It was nowhere to be found, at least not in the bed. I did find it on the bedside table and quickly put it where it is supposed to be, beneath the sheet and near my knees. I climbed back in bed and slept the night away with no more cramps.
At least six of my best friends are now using soap in their beds here in our community and all of them report almost perfect results. If you have never heard of this before just Google "soap in bed for cramps" and read what you will find. Incidentally Dr. Peter Gott of upstate New York writes a weekly column and he has reported on this remedy many times in his column, the latest being three weeks ago.
NOTE: Do not use Dial or Dove. They will not work. Ivory or Safeguard or any other soap will work. AND IT DOES WORK. And you can use a small bar such as one almost used up in your shower or a small hotel size bar.
Here is an article from Google on this topic:
Soap in Bed?
No, it's not the title of a new R-rated movie.
At the risk of having my dear readers think I've gone completely bonkers, I've decided to share a little folk cure I've discovered in the past
week.
Ever since I had Nicholas at the ripe age of nearly 42, my body has never been the same. My joints are sore, my muscles feel ancient, and my bones are
creaky. I creep out of my chair if I've been sitting at my desk for too long, and night time is the worst. I often wake up with aching hips. Honestly,
there's nothing like having a baby in your 40s to make you feel old (in more ways than one!). I wouldn't change a thing, believe me, except I could
do without the aches and pains.
The Oregonian has a natural health column every Sunday, and a few weeks ago it mentioned a cure for leg cramps or pain: placing a bar of soap in
the bed. I tend to be very skeptical of homeopathy and the like, so I guffawed a bit when I read it. However, I also thought: "What could it
hurt?"
So I've concluded that it has to be a fresh bar. I googled this remedy and found tons out on the internet (but no scientific basis for why it works), including an article on snopes.com. Someone wrote in on one of the web sites that he or she replaces the bar every couple of months. Apparently it's also supposed to help with restless legs, but Mike hasn't given up his Requip yet.
So there you have it--you can think that I'm wacko. But I'm a wacko without pain in my hips now! Hooray! Between the soap in bed, my attempts to eat wheat free, and my neti pot (see below), who knows what will be next! A chiropractor?
But if you are suffering from any kind of leg or hip cramps or pain in bed, what possible harm could a little soap do? Give it a try, and tell me if you have any luck!

I don't have any idea how or why the soap works, but let me say this. "It does work" I haven't had a leg cramp in over two years now. Just try it..
Yes it works, may have to change the soap every now and then seems like once the scent is gone its time for a change.
I just recently heard about this working for people. That's amazing.
i read about the Bar of Soap in a column from my local newspaper and immediatedly tried it. I felt if II tried medication why not soap. I have been diagnosed with fibromygia, arthristis and had constant hip and knee pain. It was painful just getting out of bed at night to get to the bathroom. I put 3 bars of various scents of soap in my bed nightly. no pain. no hand pain nor arm. It works. I don't care how. I am not in pain nor take medication.
