We are called to be different, try to remember that Mr. Kennedy.
Carolyn Hileman
From conception to natural death that is the Catholic dogma has been for years, much longer than I have been Catholic. There is much debate over Kennedy being told to not present himself for Communion, the only debate I see is why is Pelosi and other adamant pro abortion lawmakers not held to the same standard. There is one distinguishing factor that distinguishes Catholics from every other religion and that is we are adamantly anti abortion, you will see us on the sides of the streets holding signs saying abortion kills children, every single year without fail, rain or shine. You will see us at the Planned Parenthood clinics silently praying and you will recognize our cars with the bumper stickers that say abortion it is a child not a choice, there can be no mistaking that we are against abortion.
It is not the most popular stance by a long shot, we have been brought up on charges for simply praying, we are the ones they look at the minute some kook decides to kill an abortion doctor, but we are on the front lines of a battle for the lives of innocent children. You can say anything you want about the Catholic Church, you may malign her people but when it comes right down to it we are the ones demanding an end to the killing of babies, we have had help, yes, but for the most part we are the ones willing to step out there and take the punches so that maybe, just maybe one baby might be saved. Being a Catholic means something it is not just a title it is a life. A life of commitment to the Word, the beliefs and the values, I would be ashamed to call my self Catholic if I condoned, voted for or furthered the practice of abortion. You simply cannot serve two Masters and that is what Kennedy, Pelosi and others have been doing.
You cannot go with the crowd and just go to church and believe everything is OK; you cannot support abortion and then say you follow Jesus because it is a lie. Jesus would have never just stood by and watched as innocent babies were murdered and you should not either. You cannot vote for the popular candidate who supports abortion just because he has other policies you like, that is like saying we will not put to death a murderer because he did other things that were good, get a grip people we are CALLED TO BE DIFFERENT. We are not called to be main stream, we are not called to be agreeable, we are called to be DIFFERENT. We are not called to mind our own business when a human life is at stake, we would not turn our heads if a mother was bashing in her babies head in front of us but we will remain silent as abortionist suck the brains out of little babies in the privacy of a clinic. Where do we draw the line between politically correct and murder? When do we start to realize that those babies we decide are none of our business are just as precious and the one in our arms? It is time to kick the world out of our churches and invite Jesus back in, it is time to preach the Word, not the politically correct version, the plate might not be as full, but those who are there will be there because they want to be there not because they think it might get them a vote. We are called to be different, try to remember that Mr. Kennedy.
